Hankook’s Enfren Eco Will Be OE on Ford’s Hybrid Vehicle in China

Hankook Tire Co. Ltd. will supply it Enfren Eco all-season performance tire to Ford Motor Co.’s hybrid electric vehicle, the C-Max Energi, which is sold in China.

Hankook says its premium eco-friendly tire is the first OE tire it is supplying to the automaker’s plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). The Enfren Eco will be fitted in size 215/55R17V.

Hankook’s Enfren Eco tire is designed primarily for hybrid and fuel-efficient vehicles. The company says the all-season performance tire offers low rolling resistance, outstanding wet and dry handling, maximized fuel efficiency and comfort driving experience. Enfren Eco is structured to induce change in sidewall dispersion and to trade off by applying tire stiffness control profile, thereby increase low rolling resistance and fuel efficiency.

The outstanding fuel efficiency of Enfren Eco received top energy efficiency ratings in Korea, Japan and Europe, according to the company. 

Hankook Tire Vice Chairman and CEO Seung Hwa Suh says, “Hankook Tire is proud to announce the OE fitment to one of the prestigious automotive brands, as well as the first premium OE supply for Ford’s plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.”

Hankook has been supplying OE tires for Ford models since 1999. Hankook products are on OE on vehicles globally such as the Ford Fiesta, Fusion, Flex, Edge, Explorer, Taurus, Transit, Kuga and Mustang. The company says it is continuing to expand its global automotive partnerships by supplying original equipment tires for 37 automakers including Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and BMW.
