Francesco Gori, former Pirelli Tyre SpA CEO and managing director, and Padma Bhushan Shri Vinod Rai, former comptroller and auditor general of India, have been appointed to the Apollo Tyres Ltd.'s board of directors.
"Their vast experience would further strengthen our board, and add value to our strategic decision making process,” says Chairman Onkar S Kanwar.
Gori joined the company last October as its strategy advisor. He is also a member of the company’s management board.
He spent more than 33 years with Pirelli & Cie SpA in the field of product development, sales and marketing, product management, etc. His last appointment was as the CEO of Pirelli Tyre, a position that he held from 2006 until he left the company in 2012.
Vinod Rai, an independent board member, was a 1972 batch Kerala cadre officer of Indian Administrative Service (IAS). Prior to his appointment as financial services secretary, he was an additional secretary in the Banking Division of the Finance Ministry, Government of India.
