Bandag introduces winter tread pattern

Aug. 30, 2005

Bandag Inc. has developed a new winter tread design for regional drive truck tires. The Bandag Drive Regional-Winter (BDR-W) tread is targeted for the North American and European markets.

Designed for drive positions in over-the-road and pickup-and-delivery applications, the directional tread pattern features a deep 26/32-inch tread depth. It includes full sipes for traction in harsh winter conditions -- even on snow layers that remain unsalted and polished by non-studded tires, according to the company.

"These treads are intended to be put to use just before the winter season begins with our without studs and chains," says Chris Hoffman, product manager for global tire products.

The tread is available in the following sizes: 210mm, 220mm, 230mm and 250mm. An additional size, 240mm, will be available this fall.
