TIA establishes Environmental Advisory Council

Jan. 14, 2010

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has created its new Environmental Advisory Council (EAC), which will promote environmental awareness throughout the tire industry via distribution of strategic information, educational programs and other services.

The EAC replaces the Tire and Rubber Recycling Advisory Council, which covered the tire recycling sector. "The EAC will go further... by expanding this initiative to include all facets of the tire industry," say TIA officials.

"For TIA members and the tire industry, this means examining every aspect of their business to be energy-efficient, ensure safety, reduce waste and to use methods that reduce, reuse, repair and recycle tires."

Each EAC member was personally selected by TIA President Wayne Croswell. Members include Dick Gust, former TIA president and current EAC co-chairman; Larry Brandt, co-chairman; Michael Baggett; Chip Huber; Brett Matschke; Glen Nicholson; Jim Pangle; Charles Astafan; Kevin Kendrick; Robert Moyer; Tim Bent; and Mary Sikora.

"It is clear that green issues are becoming more and more enmeshed in both our personal and professional lives and thus, I want to take a broader, more holistic approach to how tire dealers and the tire industry can better understand and implement green concepts and practices," says Croswell.

The EAC will meet on a regular basis. For more information, see www.tireindustry.org.
