Yokohama Tire Corp.'s latest commercial truck tire, the Yokohama 121T, is now available in the United States. The 121T is designed for trailer axle applications and comes in two sizes - 215/75R17.5 and 235/75R17.5.
Rated for severe snow performance, "the 121T is truly a regional trailer tire for all seasons,” says Tom Clauer, Yokohama’s senior manager of commercial product planning. “Its distinctive tread pattern and rigid shoulder design are ideal for use in drop-deck and heavy-haul trailer applications, no matter the weather conditions.”
Features include a three-groove tread pattern for lower rolling resistance and reduced noise; serpentine grooves that evacuate water from beneath the tread and maximize traction on wet and snowy roads; a precisely engineered concave lug for enhanced grip; and a ridged shoulder design that "reduces the chances for shoulder step-down wear and improves straight line stability," according to Yokohama officials.
"Additionally, the funnel-shaped step grooves prevent stones and debris from reaching the bottom of the groove where casing damage occurs."
