Magna Tyres Group has created its own tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) in its effort to maximize the use of its off-the-road tires.
Hein De Wind, commercial director at Magna Tyres, says, “In line with the company’s dedicated objective of operating beyond the conventional role of a tire producer by constantly looking at new ways to get the absolute maximum out of our tires. The introduction of our own meticulously crafted and comprehensive TPMS solution will perfectly align with our customers specific needs and provide an even closer collaboration with Magna."
Magna TPMS provides live tire pressure and temperature monitoring, including alerts for moderate and extreme readings — even when the power to the machine isn't on. The system will also automatically send emails to alert to the appropriate person within an organization of the abnormal reading.
With its GPS tracking technology, the system monitors distance travelled and hours of use for tire usage statistics. Valve sensors continually monitor pressure, heat, speed and distance, and it's reported through the Magna Gateway through the CAN-bus then collected and transmitted in real-time. The system can manage an entire fleet to reduce downtime and aid fleet managers with efficiency.
De Wind says, “The introduction of Magna TPMS will effectively enable our customers to monitor their tire performance leading to increased mileage performance and further improved Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). It is the next natural development in our close partnership with our customers to ensure working with Magna Tyres is always highly successful.”
