Knight to Use Snider Tire's WheelRight System

May 16, 2025

Knight Transportation has announced a multi-site, multi-year initiative to install Snider Tire Inc.'s WheelRight drive-over tire reader.

One of the largest trucking fleets in the United States, Knight will install WheelRight readers across its operations.

"The cutting-edge technology has proven a powerful tool in identifying tire and vehicle issues - significantly reducing downtime and decreasing emergency roadside service events," Knight and Snider Tire said in a joint statement. "The system has also been shown to increase safety and sustainability, while reducing operating costs."

The WheelRight system employs advanced technologies to capture real-time data- including tire pressure and tread depth - in a six-second rollover. Fleet managers are then alerted to potential issues before an asset leaves the yard, ensuring that every vehicle operates at peak efficiency.

“We’re committed to implementing innovative solutions that enhance safety, improve efficiency and reduce costs” says Steve Collins, vice president of maintenance at Knight Transportation. “WheelRight’s automated inspection system allows us to proactively identify tire and vehicle issues before they lead to expensive repairs or unplanned downtime.”

“We know that every tire issue can lead to costly downtime and potential safety risks on
the road,” notes Keith Allen, senior vice president at Rock Hill, S.C.-based Snider Tire, one of the largest commercial tire dealerships in the U.S. “That’s why we’re proud to bring the WheelRight system to Knight Transportation."
