H&H Industries Co-Founder Dies

Joel “Jody” Hickman, co-founder of Oak Hill, Ohio-based H&H Industries, recently died at the age of 74.

Joel “Jody” Hickman, co-founder of Oak Hill, Ohio-based H&H Industries, recently died at the age of 74.

He was born March 11, 1951, in Ashland, Ohio, to the late Joel Samuel and Lotus Arbutus Allen Hickman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Delilah Bowling Hickman, in 2019 and a brother, Michael Allen Hickman.

“Alongside his late brother and friend, Ken Daniels, he built H&H Industries from the ground up, helping shape it into a trusted name in the OTR tire industry,” according to his obituary. “His leadership and commitment to excellence laid the foundation for what our company is today.

"Beyond his business accomplishments. Jody was known for his kindness, warmth and ability to connect with everyone he met. Jody’s legacy lives on through the people he mentored, the relationships he built and the business he helped create.”

He leaves behind his two children, Joel “Scott” Hickman (Michelle) and Tracy Hickman (Larry Ruff); three brothers, Patrick Truman Hickman, Daniel Russell Hickman and Mark Allen Hickman (Veronica); eight grandchildren; special nephew, Noah Hickman (Lisa); and many other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. EST on Thursday, July 24, at Caniff Funeral Home. Burial will follow. Visitation will be held on July 23 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
