Michelin Retread Technologies has rolled out its TreadVision system, which features artificial intelligence-enabled analytics.

TreadVision was unveiled at the recent TMC Show in Nashville, Tenn.

Michelin officials call it "an innovative, new approach to the retread process incorporating artificial intelligence, robotics and advanced data insights designed to enhance retread quality and consistency, while also improving fleets’ operational efficiency."

"Retreading plays a vital role in helping fleets extend asset life and control operating costs and we’re evolving the process to deliver greater consistency, improved quality and faster turnaround times."

A key advancement within TreadVision that is now available across the Michelin Retread Technologies franchise dealer network is TreadEye, a tread depth assessment technology that helps fleets maximize their tire investment. "The tool accurately and consistently collects 1,200 measurement points, providing precise insights into tread wear and casing conditions to help fleets better identify pull points, protect casing integrity and reduce unnecessary downtime.

"TreadVision also incorporates proprietary automated inspection powered by AI with predictive modeling to help identify imperfections and anomalies that may not be detected through traditional methods. Automated classification of casing integrity analysis (shearography) results via Vision AI further enhances real-time, objective quality control, helping ensure only suitable casings advance through the retread process.

"Beyond inspection, TreadVision integrates automated tire handling and flow designed to streamline retread plant operations and help increase turnaround times," say Michelin officials. "Automated specification management enhances product consistency by standardizing build parameters and reducing process variability. Collectively, these technologies are designed to improve quality assurance, reduce human variability and create a more consistent retread product - outcomes that directly help support fleet uptime and operational efficiency."

TreadVision is complemented by Michelin’s Fleet Business Insights platform, which converts operational data into actionable intelligence. "Fleets gain improved visibility into performance trends, asset tracking, pull-point strategies and cost-management opportunities, helping optimize tire programs across the asset lifecycle. By introducing advanced inspection, AI-enabled analytics and automation to the traditional process, Michelin Retread Technologies is strengthening the role of retreading in modern fleet operations."
