Petlas Unveils Underground Mining Tire

Petlas Tire Corp. has expanded its OTR tire range with the launch of the PtxMD51, a new L-5 type tire developed for underground mining loaders and trucks.

"Designed with an extra deep tread and an all-steel radial construction, the PtxMD51 is built to perform in environments where wear, impact, and cut risks are consistently high," say Petlas officials.

"The tire features a specially developed tread compound that provides strong resistance against cuts and chips, while its reinforced structure - combining steel belts with a radial steel carcass - ensures high impact resistance under heavy loads and harsh operating conditions. A solid center structure enhances durability and resistance, while shoulder grooves support traction and help maintain stability.

"This balanced design enables consistent performance in underground operations where reliability is critical."
