Purcell Tire & Rubber Co. is pushing eastward via the integration of RDH Tire & Retread Co.'s equipment and staff.

Terms of the deal have not been disclosed. RDH Tire & Retread, which had gone out of business, was based in Cleveland, N.C.

"Founded in 1987, RDH Tire & Retread built a national reputation for specialized OTR tire retreading and repair services, supporting customers across quarry, mining, aggregate and heavy industrial operations throughout the eastern United States," according to Purcell Tire officials.

"The integration strengthens Purcell’s growing OTR service network and enhances support capabilities for customers throughout the southeast and northeast corridors of the United States.

"By placing operational capacity closer to customers, Purcell expects to improve turnaround times, logistics efficiency and overall service responsiveness for OTR retread and repair programs.

"The addition also creates a more efficient hub-and-spoke operating structure for Purcell’s OTR retread and repair services. Historically, certain tire processing and retread operations required transportation back to Purcell’s long-established Potosi, Mo., operations. The expanded eastern capabilities will now allow many customers to receive faster regionalized service while maintaining Purcell’s established standards for quality and performance.

"This integration marks another milestone in Purcell’s long-term growth strategy. What began as a single Missouri tire shop in 1936 has evolved into a diversified national operation with multiple retread and repair facilities supporting industries ranging from mining and aggregate to commercial trucking and industrial operations. With this addition, Purcell now operates a third major OTR retread and repair facility as part of its expanding national footprint."

Purcell Tire has another retread plant in Portland, Ore.

"This expansion represents the coming together of two organizations with deep roots in the OTR industry and a shared commitment to customer service, technical expertise, and long-term relationships,” says Mike Jacobsen, vice president of manufacturing at Purcell Tire, which is headquartered in Potosi.

"Our focus continues to be investing in people, capabilities and infrastructure that help customers reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency,” says Roger Lucas, CEO of Purcell Tire. “The experience and technical knowledge of the RDH team adds tremendous value to our organization and to the customers we serve.”
