Continental Introduces Sensor Ready Tires
Key Highlights
- Continental's latest Sensor Ready tires aim to "make tire monitoring faster, simpler and more reliable for fleets of all sizes."
- Sensor Ready tires have integrated sensor pockets built during manufacturing, marked with a sidewall logo for easy identification.
- The technology is designed to reduce installation time and labor requirements, making tire monitoring more accessible for fleets and retread shops.
Continental Tire the Americas LLC recently introduced Sensor Ready tires "designed to make tire monitoring faster, simpler and more reliable for fleets of all sizes."
The company "has developed an integrated sensor pocket that is engineered directly into the tire during curing," marked with a logo on the sidewall. The company says the innovation is part of its mission to "advance the industry through scalable, data-driven solutions that improve fleet safety, efficiency and uptime."
The Sensor Ready tires were created to reduce installation times, lower labor requirements at both fleet maintenance facilities and retread shops and increase installation consistency and reliability.
Continental Tire is launching the new technology through its Conti Coach HA3 product line.
Fleets can choose to purchase tires with sensors pre-installed from the factory or select Sensor Ready tires "for quick sensor installation at any time without specialized tools or adhesives."
“Digital tire monitoring is becoming essential for improving fleet safety, efficiency and sustainability,” says Renato Sarzano, head of truck tires Americas for Continental. “With Sensor Ready tires, we are offering one of the most advanced and user-friendly solutions on the market – reducing installation time, improving reliability and making it easier than ever for fleets to adopt connected tire technologies.”
The integrated pocket remains part of the tire during the retreading process, say Continental Tire officials. "Only the sensor itself needs to be removed and reinstalled, helping retreaders operate more efficiently without impacting casing performance or durability."
Digital tire monitoring can also help shops maintain proper tire pressure, help fleets reduce fuel consumption, extend tire life and decrease tire-related roadside incidents.
Continental Tire also offers ContiConnect Lite, "a mobile app that enables smaller fleets to benefit from tire monitoring technology with a simple, plug-and-play solution directly from a smartphone," according to officials.
