Michelin Names New Motorsports Director

Dec. 12, 2019

Michelin North America Inc. has named Tony Menard director of motorsports, effective Jan. 1, 2020, succeeding Chris Baker, who will retire in March.

A 30-year Michelin veteran, Menard most recently served as global business leader for the Michelin brand in the passenger tire category, following his role leading Michelin’s marketing function in East Asia.

Baker, who started with Michelin in 1982, has served in his current position for the last eight years.

Among other duties and achievements, he” oversaw the development of the motorsports function for Michelin and BFGoodrich brands as a single business unit in North America,” according to Michelin oficials.

“He also directed the expansion of Michelin’s involvement in IMSA sports-car racing as the ‘Official Tire of IMSA,’” as well as the BFGoodrich brand’s partnership with SCORE International Racing.
