ATD targets New England for expansion in 2011

American Tire Distributors Inc. (ATD) says it will begin opening facilities in the northeastern region of the U.S. in 2011.

The company is conducting multiple site evaluations in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, eastern Pennsylvania and other New England states.

In addition, ATD officials say the firm "will begin identifying distribution center managers, sales staffs and operational staffs as new facilities in the northeast are secured. While the company generally fills new positions from within the organization, it will be aggressively recruiting local talent to support this substantial expansion."

Bob Stewart, a 20-year ATD veteran, has been named regional vice president for the northeast region.
