ATD Opens New Wilmington Distribution Center

American Tire Distributors Inc. (ATD) has opened a new distribution center in Wilmington, N.C.
ATD celebrated the facility’s grand opening on Aug. 1 with customers, vendor partners and employees. The event included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, facility tours, a vendor fair and food trucks.
“This facility is an important milestone in our journey,” says Ira Silver, president and CEO of ATD. “The new Wilmington Distribution Center was purpose-built for our needs and provides us with greater capacity, enhanced efficiency and an improved experience for our customers. We were proud to celebrate this achievement alongside the customers, vendor partners and associates who are critical to our success.”
The facility, which was designed specifically for tire distribution, offers significantly more stock-keeping unit capacity than ATD’s previous Wilmington location.
ATD officials say the distribution center’s layout will allow the company to expand inventory storage, improve workflow efficiency and provide a more seamless customer pick-up experience.
“By expanding capacity and improving efficiency, we are strengthening our ability to serve customers today while preparing for future growth,” says Silver.
The Wilmington distribution center is one of several investments ATD is making through its Network 2.0 strategy, which is designed to improve product availability, enhance customer service and support the company’s long-term growth.
