Hunter Expands Supply with Mississippi Distribution Center

Aug. 21, 2023

Hunter Engineering Co. has expanded its supply and production at its St. Louis, Mo. headquarters in the past year by opening a new distribution center in Madison, Miss.

The center is between Hunter’s plants in Durant and Raymond, Mo., and is 106,000 square feet with 37 bays.

According to Hunter officials, the facility was designed to open more production room at existing plants, while also speeding up shipping times.

Finished Hunter products are now stocked in Madison before delivery to customers. The new center soon set a new company record by shipping more than 30 racks in a single day.

Other improvements have been made at Hunter to “ensure consistent service” such as the manufacturing of bench lathe parts — which was previously performed by a third party — has been brought in-house for more quality control and reduced customer lead times; in Durant, a new tube-cutting laser and a 10K Trumpf laser was installed; in the Raymond metal fabrication plant, additional press brakes, robotic welding cells and a panel former were bought online and new Ultimate ADAS system and Maverick tire changer gained new assembly operation cells.

“Hunter has always prided itself on not only producing innovative equipment but making sure it’s always kept in constant use by our customers,” says Mark Redfearn, vice president of manufacturing for Hunter.

“We’re very proud that we’ve been able to maintain our usual standard of performance despite numerous supply chain obstacles.”
