USA Wheel & Tire Outlet celebrates 20th anniversary in Belize

The distributor rewarded high-growth dealers with a Belize getaway designed to build stronger relationships and set the stage for its next phase of growth.

Inside USA Wheel & Tire’s Strategy

  • Growth over volume: USA Wheel & Tire selected dealers based on recent business growth rather than overall purchasing volume.

  • Smaller groups, stronger relationships: The roughly 30-person Belize trip was intentionally kept small to encourage more meaningful connections among dealers, vendors and company leaders.

  • Dealer trips could become annual: After using the Belize trip to celebrate its 20th anniversary, USA Wheel & Tire plans to explore similar customer experiences each year.

  • Technology is part of the next phase: The distributor is rolling out live delivery tracking and preparing a new B2B website with Tread OS as it invests in improving the dealer experience.

As dealers boarded a small propeller plane bound for a private island resort off the coast of Belize earlier this year, USA Wheel & Tire Outlet Inc.’s 20th anniversary trip was already bringing customers closer together.

“There’s nothing better that deepens relationships than when you’re sitting like 2 inches across from the guy next to you,” said Baqi Syed, project manager for USA Wheel & Tire Outlet Inc., who helped plan the trip.

The Belize trip brought together about 30 people, including dealers, vendors and company leadership. It served as a celebration of USA Wheel & Tire Outlet’s two decades in business and a reflection of how the company hopes to continue growing through closer dealer relationships, smaller group experiences and investments in technology aimed at improving customer service.

Unlike many dealer incentive trips that reward the highest-volume customers, USA Wheel & Tire Outlet used a different metric when selecting attendees.

“A big thing with this trip that we wanted to highlight was taking our customers who had the most growth and not the most volume,” said Syed.

Some of the company’s larger customers were disappointed they didn’t qualify, he said. But the company intentionally prioritized newer dealers who had rapidly expanded their business with USA Wheel & Tire Outlet over the last several years.

“We actually wanted to take our customers who are relatively new, who started doing business with us in the last few years,” said Syed. “The ones that had the most growth, not the most volume.”

The strategy aligned with USA Wheel & Tire Outlet’s broader focus on growth, exploration and relationship-building, which it hoped to reinforce throughout the trip.

Beautiful Belize

Belize offered a destination many attendees had never experienced before.

“It was a pretty unique location, and alongside that, Belize is really beautiful,” Syed said. “(It) has crystal clear water — when we were flying in the plane, you could actually see the bottom of the reef, which is kind of crazy, like all the way from the small plane we had to take. It was a pretty unique destination. That's why we chose it.”

The company also wanted the destination to symbolize “stepping outside the norm,” according to Syed, and that’s exactly what attendees experienced. Throughout the trip, they snorkelled alongside nurse sharks at Shark Ray Alley, explored the ancient Mayan site Altun Ha and cave tubed through underground river systems lined with crystalline rock formations.

“At one point, they turned off the lights, and it was pitch black in the caves,” said Syed. “It was a surreal experience.”

USA Wheel & Tire family

But beyond the excursions themselves, Syed said the activities helped strengthen personal relationships among attendees.

“It mainly shifts from being strictly business-like to being more like friends and family,” he said.

That family-focused culture was a recurring theme throughout the trip and reflects how USA Wheel & Tire Outlet approaches customer relationships overall, according to Syed.

“We actually call our members our USA Wheel & Tire family,” he said.

One of the clearest examples came near the end of the trip, when two dealers who had met for the first time in Belize made plans to continue the relationship after returning home.

“He invited him over for dinner, which was like the whole point of the trip. We wanted people to feel like they're a part of a bigger family — part of the USA Wheel & Tire family, which I think we accomplished pretty well on the trip,” Syed said.

The smaller size of the trip was also intentional, making it easier to form meaningful relationships.

“On our trip, since it was small — like 30 people max — we were able to get to know each other,” Syed said.

USA Wheel & Tire Outlet plans to continue using smaller dealer experiences moving forward and hopes to make customer trips an annual initiative.

“The main reason for this one was to celebrate our 20-year anniversary,” said Syed. “But I think moving forward, we’re going to try to make it a habit to do it every year.”

Improving the customer experience

While relationship-building remained the primary focus of the Belize trip, the company also used the gathering to discuss several operational initiatives aimed at improving its customer experience.

Among them was a new live-tracking system that allows dealers to monitor delivery trucks in real time. Syed compared the technology to the tracking systems used by food delivery apps.

“You know how Uber Eats has ETAs that they show you when your food’s about to arrive?” he said. “We started that with our truck drivers.”

The system provides live delivery updates and automatically adjusts ETAs if delays occur along delivery routes.

USA Wheel & Tire Outlet is also preparing to launch a new B2B website in partnership with Tread OS. According to Syed, the platform will use AI to pull product specifications and manufacturer data directly into the site to improve the customer ordering experience.

“We’re evolving and adapting to new technologies here,” he said.

USA Wheel & Tire's next phase

Those investments, combined with initiatives like the Belize trip, represent what Syed described as the next phase of growth for the company.

“Twenty years shows consistency, obviously. It shows adaptability and obviously strong relationships that we have with our vendors and customers, because we've been able to maintain them in the last 20 years,” Syed said. “But more importantly, I think, this is like a stepping stone for us, and we see it as a starting point for the next phase of growth.”

But for USA Wheel & Tire Outlet, the Belize trip also reinforced a broader business philosophy — one that the company believes will continue driving growth long after the anniversary celebration has ended.

“A trip like this creates loyalty that goes beyond tire pricing and products,” said Syed. “There are shared experiences between us, and that creates a bond, which I think strengthens business even further because you're treating them like family.”
