Sumitomo Rubber North America Inc. (SRNA) will roll out its Falken WildPeak R/T in December. The tire has been developed for lifted trucks, SUVs and high-powered diesel pickup trucks.
SRNA officials say the tire blends "the off-road strengths of a mud-terrain (tire) with the on-road benefits of an all-terrain" tire.
“Falken is experiencing tremendous consumer interest and emphatic usage from our WildPeak inventory and we’ve received requests for more choices, which has led us to develop the R/T tire,” says Rick Brennan, vice president of strategic planning, SRNA.
The R/T offers the kind of traction found on the Falken Wildpeak M/, plus the tread life and stability that the Falken Wildpeak A/T delivers, according to SRNA officials. The tire features SRNA's proprietary, three-ply Duraspec Sidewall Technilogy, which has been engineered to withstand extreme off-road conditions, plus two high-ply turnups "to provide an extra later of protection."

When launched in December 2022, the tire will be offered in 48 sizes, including seven Load Range F sizes, fitting wheels ranging from 16 inches to 22 inches in diameter. Popular fitments will include the Chevrolet Colorado and Silverado, the Ford Bronco and F-Series, the Jeep Gladiator and Wrangler, Ram trucks, and Toyota’s 4Runner, Tacoma and Tundra.
