eBay Motors has added 1,500 installers to create a network of more than 5,000 installation locations around the U.S. The online marketplace has also expanded its tire inventory, and enhanced its shopping tools.
The company says more than 75% of its tires are now eligible for installation services. Users can enter tire size details, choose tires, add them to the cart and select a local business for shipping and installation. The installer then will email or call customers to guide them through the appointment setting and completion process.
“From casual commuters to seasoned DIYers, most buyers have their tires installed by a professional,” said Ron Jaiven, general manager of parts and accessories for eBay Motors. “eBay Motors now makes that easier than ever with a complete solution that helps buyers of all skill levels find the right tires for their vehicle, book an appointment at their convenience, and have them professionally installed by a local shop.”
eBay Motors first brought tire installation to the U.S. in October 2017, five months after the service was unveiled in Germany. The company works with several programs, tire dealerships and automotive service businesses to provide installation. When the service launched six years ago American Tire Distributors Inc.'s TireBuyer was the first installer of choice. But TireBuyer now is an eBay Motors seller, and not an installation partner.
Other installers have come via CarAdvise and SimpleTire, as well as Firestone Complete Auto Care and Wheel Works stores owned by Bridgestone Americas Inc., and Pep Boys locations.
The addition of installers comes after the launch of eBay Guaranteed Fit, which the online retailer says is a show of its "commitment to streamlining the shopping experience and driving even more confidence amongst its buyers."
Goodyear, Bridgestone, Michelin and Pirelli are among the tire brands available for installation, eBay Motors says.
As part of the expansion, the marketplace is offering free installation to consumers who purchase a set of new tires through July 2, 2023.
