Toyo Unveils Proxes R Competition Tire

Nov. 30, 2023

Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. has announced its new Toyo Proxes R DOT competition tire for dry-road racing and high-performance driving on the track.

The Proxes R is an extension of the Proxes RR, with improved stability and heightened responsiveness, according to Toyo officials.

Key features and benefits of the tire include a new racing tread compound; enhanced contact patch for improved grip; reinforced sidewall and high-modulus bead filler to improve stability and steering responsiveness; and a symmetrical, non-directional, two-groove 4/32’’ deep tread design and wear markers for easier tread inspection.

“Our main focus when developing the Proxes R at our R&D facilities in Japan was improving performance while retaining durability,” says Cameron Parsons, product engineer and field analyst for competition and specialty tires at Toyo.

The tire will be produced in 26 sizes and load/speed combinations for 15- to 20-inch wheel diameters. Ten sizes will be available starting April 2024, with the remaining sizes available by the end of the summer.
