Raymond Berry, former owner of Berry Tire Co. in Chicago, Ill., has died at the age of 94.
Born to Raymond L. and Evelyn Berry in Chicago, he served in the U.S. Navy before being called back to Berry Tire, the business his father had started.
Under his leadership, Berry Tire grew to five locations in the greater Chicago area with nearly 100 employees.
“For many years, Berry Tire held the distinction of Chicagoland’s largest Goodyear Tire distributor,” according to his obituary.
“Over the years, Ray influenced his employees and provided opportunities for continuing education and Automotive Service Excellence certification. Ray also served as a board of director with the Automotive Wholesalers of Illinois.” (Berry Tire was both a retailer and a wholesale distributor.)

Preceded by his wife, Eileen; his son, Tom; his parents; and other family members, he is survived by his daughter, Linda (Jim); seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place on May 23 from 9:15 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church; 1775 Grove St. (at Church St.); Glenview, Ill.
