USTMA Updates 2025 Shipment Forecast
The U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) predicts that a total of 337.4 million passenger, light truck and medium truck tires will be shipped this year versus 337.3 million in 2024.
"Compared with 2024, original equipment (OE) shipments for passenger, light truck and truck tires are expected to change by -3.5%, -3.7% and -18.1%, respectively," according to a recent statement by USTMA.
"Replacement passenger, light truck and truck tire shipments are also projected to change by 0.0%, 2.9% and 7.9%, respectively," with a total increase of 3 million units.
In the OE channel, USTMA predicts that 41.6 million passenger tires, 6.5 million light truck tires and 4.6 million truck tires will ship in 2025.
USTMA also projects that 221.6 million passenger tires, 37.8 million light truck tires and 25.2 million medium truck tires will ship during 2025.
"Because the U.S. government shutdown delayed the release of August and September tire trade data, the current forecast is produced without these inputs and may therefore contain higher-than-usual estimation errors for U.S. replacement shipments," according to USTMA officials.
