Autel U.S. has announced the five recipients of its second annual Autel Awarding Excellence Scholarships, part of Autel Cares, the company's philanthropic initiative.

Autel has awarded five $5,000 scholarships to students who are pursuing education and training in auto repair and service.

The scholarship is intended to help students off-set the cost of tuition, books, tools, supplies and other expenses. This year, Autel expanded eligibility to not only recent high school graduates but also adult leaners returning to school or transitioning from another career into automotive education.

Recipients include Shawn Clark of Deer Lodge, Mich., who is attending Highlands College of Montana Tech and is beginning a new career in automotive education at the age of 50; Jacob Heinrichs of Austin, Texas, who is attending Universal Technical Insitutue of Texas and is already working as an auto service tech; Marisa Rueger of Harleysville, Pa., a student at Automotive Training Center - Warminster; Logan Mercier of Claremont, Calif., who is attending the Universal Technical School of California; and Kristof Adam of Stillwater, Minn., who is attending Century College.

Applicants were aked to submit videos or essays "describing the path that led them to pursue automotive repair education," say Autel officials.

Autel rolled out the Autel Awarding Excellence Scholarships last year.
