SEMA Show: Hunter Brings Walkaway System, More to Show
Hunter Engineering Co. is bringing it's award-winning tire changer/wheel balancing system and more to the 2026 SEMA Show, which kicks off on Nov. 3.
All will be displayed in Hunter’s booth (#42017) in the Lower South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Among the new products on display are Hunter’s Walkaway System, which consists of the company’s autonomous Revolution tire changer and its autonomous Road Force Walkaway wheel balancer.
“A tire changer spends an inordinate amount of time on inflation,” say Hunter officials. “Offloading that choke point to yield more balance between the changer and balancer is key.
“Road Force Walkaway delivers it by providing autonomous inflation on the balancer. It takes several pulses to calculate the time required for full inflation. When inflation is completed, the air chuck releases automatically and the spin begins.
“The tire required for these operations is displayed on the monitor. That’s time the tech can now put to use getting the next assembly, changing tires on the tire changer, installing and pre-torquing mounted assemblies on the vehicle and more.”
When Road Force Walkaway is paired with Hunter’s Maverick tire changer, techs will be able to shave 12 minutes off a four-tire, door-to-door changeover When Road Force Walkaway is paired with a typical tire changer, techs will be able to save 10 minutes.
When using Hunter's Revolution tire changer, a tech can save 15 minutes or 44% of the normal time.
Hunter representatives will be demonstrating the system inside Hunter’s booth through the end of the 2026 SEMA Show on Nov. 6.
Hunter also will spotlight its new remote diagnostic service collaboration with Bosch.
Hunter’s ADASLink scan and calibration tool now includes Remote Diagnostics Service (RDS), powered by Bosch. This new capability provides on-demand access to OEM software, scan and calibration assistance, repair validation, fault code reviews, expert coding support, documentation and other functions for independent tire dealers.
“The collaboration enables ADASLink® to connect directly with Bosch diagnostic experts through an integrated remote support platform, allowing shops to service more vehicles, complete repairs faster, reduce outsourcing and eliminate the need for purchasing and maintaining multiple OEM scan tools and software subscriptions,” say Hunter officials.
“Today’s repair facilities need efficient access to OEM diagnostic capabilities,” explains Ryan Gerber, Hunter ADAS product specialist. “By integrating remote diagnostics expertise from Bosch into the ADASLink platform, customers can confidently perform scans, calibrations and advanced diagnostics with transparent pricing and insurer-ready documentation.”
With ADASLink plugged into the vehicle, the technician opens the RDS menu, selects from pre-scan, post-scan, steering system reset and ADAS support options and then describes the assistance they require. RDS will auto-ID the VIN and open a live chat with a Bosch diagnostic expert.
The Bosch diagnostic expert can then remotely perform scans and steering system resets, provide ADAS target setup specifications or remotely complete calibrations as needed. When the work is completed, the system generates OE-level documentation, calibration confirmation and next-step recommendations.
Also on display is Hunter’s Ultimate ADAS alignment and calibration system – now with a recently introduced Compact Console configuration.
The lighter-look version offers an alternate choice from the standard Ultimate ADAS console, providing a reduced equipment footprint along with increased maneuverability.
“The compact unit is designed for shops needing less target storage space,” say Hunter officials.
“The new console conveniently holds wheel targets for rapid set-ups, and comes standard with a 32-inch monitor, wireless connection between the console and the sensor tower, setup for aftermarket battery backup, and three flexible wall-mount brackets for secure storage of the radar plate and target boards.
“Approved by 11 OEMs, Ultimate ADAS eliminates error-prone manual layouts common to static ADAS calibrations, combining standard-setting alignment technology with an efficient and easy-to-use guided target placement system for around-the-vehicle coverage."
“Gimbal-mounted lasers are the key component, replacing the inexact guesswork of strings, plumb bobs and tape measures to cut setup time by 70% for some procedures.”
“Responding to customer requests, we’re excited to offer this new smaller-footprint configuration for shops without a need for onboard target storage space,” says Hunter Product Manager David Agnew. “Adding to the convenience is greater maneuverability and a reduced price.” (For more information, visit https://www.hunter.com/adas-equipment/ultimate-adas.)
And Hunter will highlight its HawkEye XL Commercal Alignment System during the SEMA Show.
The HawkEye XL Commercal Alignment System benefits from four major, recent enhancements.
The popular, award-winning aligner employs long-range camera technology to obtain measurements in four minutes or less for trucks, trailers, buses and much more.
The new enhancements include:
- Magnetic wheel adapters that can be quickly and easily attached to the lugnuts in a matter of seconds. In addition to speed, the adapters provide increased wheel protection, with no metal spades to get between the rim and tire. (The adapters are available as an option for new and existing HawkEye® XL aligners);
- Drive-thru sensor configuration that "will allow drive-through shops and OEM production to skip repositioning their equipment for each alignment, saving even more time and effort. The sensors offer the same long-range vision and field of view, with up to 16-foot-wide tower spacing to accommodate commercial vehicles;
- Hunter’s latest WinAlign® 18.3 software, which "offers new target placement guidance to help the technician, aligner placement guidance so the cameras can easily see all the wheel targets, and the flexibility to perform thrustline and frame-reference alignments as desired," according to Hunter officials;
- And the latest-generation alignment cart, which enables technicians to "control the alignment system from the rear of the vehicles, saving steps and valuable time. The cart is completely untethered with a battery backup, allowing a full day’s work without carrying a cable around the shop."
The HawkEye XL Commercal Alignment Systemhandles heavy-duty, medium-duty, light-duty and passenger vehicles. (For more information, visit https://www.hunter.com/alignment-machines/hawkeye-xl.)
