Kumho Expands Range of OE Fitments
Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc. continues to expand its original equipment (OE) partnerships, including new fitments with Nissan and Hyundai.
Kumho will supply the Kumho Crugen HP71 all-season touring tire for select models of the Nissan Rogue and will outfit select configurations of the Nissan Frontier with the new Road Venture HT all-season highway-terrain tire, which was unveiled this past summer. (Click here to learn more.)
"The Kumho Crugen HP71 is designed to deliver a quiet, comfortable ride with confident year-round performance for CUV and SUV drivers," say Kumho officials. "Wide circumferential grooves and micro-serration technology enhance wet-weather traction and hydroplaning resistance, while optimized tread construction promotes long tread life and dependable winter capability.
"Building on these features, the Crugen EV HP71 is engineered to accommodate heavier EVs, reduce rolling resistance and handle instant torque delivery. Kumho's proprietary K-Silent technology further enhances cabin comfort through sound-absorbing foam and noise-optimized tread pattern, an important consideration in quieter EV cabins.
"Designed specifically for modern pickup trucks and SUVs, the Kumho Road Venture HT delivers enhanced wet and snow traction, extended tread life and a quiet, comfortable ride for everyday driving.
"The tire features a next-generation polymer compound that provides a 10% improvement in tread life compared to its predecessor and carries 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake certification for confident performance in severe winter conditions."
Kumho was also selected by Hyundai to supply the Crugen EV HP71 for the Hyundai IONIQ 5, which joins Waymo’s next-generation robotaxi fleet in the United States.
"Autonomous fleets demand tires capable of delivering consistent performance over thousands of miles of continuous operation, making durability, efficiency and ride comfort especially important," say Kumho officials. "The Kumho Crugen EV HP71 addresses not only the requirements of high-utilization fleets, but the unique performance demands of electric vehicles, as well."
Kumho currently supplies OE tires to more than 40 vehicle platforms across nine automotive brands in North America, including Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, Audi, Volkswagen and more.
