Purcell Produces Its First Michelin Truck Tire Retread

March 16, 2021

Purcell Tire & Rubber Co. has produced its first-ever Michelin retread. The product was manufactured at the dealership’s retread plant in Potosi, Mo.

Purcell retread plant technicians applied a Michelin X-Line Energy Trailer tread to a Michelin XDA Energy + casing, size 275/80R22.5.

This past January, Purcell - which is the fifth largest retreader in the United States, according to MTD research - announced it had joined the Michelin Retread Technologies (MRT) and Oliver retreading networks, while also becoming part of the Michelin Commercial Service Network.

In December 2020, Purcell acquired Quality Tire, which added three retread plants to its footprint. (One is an MRT plant. The others use Michelin’s Oliver system.)

At the time of the Michelin announcement, Purcell CEO Roger Lucas stated that the dealership “will be converting (our) Potosi and Phoenix operations to Michelin retreading and the Quality Tire retread operations will remain as they sit today.”

“After a 30-year relationship with Michelin, Purcell Tire is honored to be a part of a very exclusive network of dealers, focused on offering the best products and services for commercial and OTR fleets,” said Bob Purcell, the dealership’s owner.
