Purcell Tire Joins Michelin's Commercial, Retreading Networks

Purcell Tire & Rubber Co., the ninth-largest commercial tire dealer in the country and the fifth-largest retreader, is joining the Michelin Commercial Service Network and Michelin Retread Technologies Inc. and Oliver Rubber Co. LLC retreading networks.

With 65 service locations and five retread plants in 15 states, Purcell Tire is also the largest retreader of OTR tires in North America.

In December, Purcell acquired Quality Tire, which has three existing retread plants, one of which uses the Michelin Retread Technologies system. (The other two use Michelin's Oliver system.)

"We will be converting (our) Potosi and Phoenix operations to Michelin retreading and the Quality Tire retread operations will remain as they sit today," says Purcell CEO Roger Lucas.

With the addition of Purcell, Michelin's commercial network will now offer fleet service at more than 400 locations nationwide. Purcell will offer fleets a comprehensive service package, including online reporting, Michelin ONCall emergency road service, Michelin Tire Care tire-monitoring service, Michelin Mechanical Care trailer repair and readiness program and access to skilled technicians backed by rigorous certification and audit standards.

Michelin says its network is designed to help fleets "maximize uptime and ensure consistent, high-quality service from a nationwide franchise network."
