Continental Tire the Americas LLC is filling out its construction truck tire portfolio, adding two more sizes to the Conti HSC 3 steer/all-position tire, plus retreads to match the ContiTread HSC 3 and ContiTread HDC 3.
In May the Conti HSC 3 will be available in 12R22.5 and 12R24.5 sizes, making it available in all major sizes. The tire offers an 11% mileage improvement over its predecessor, plus double the resistance to cuts and chips compared to the HSC1. Continental says the off-road belt package provides better penetration resistance, and the tire's third generation casing reduces heat buildup and provides better retreadability. The tire also features a wider tread platform to increase mileage.
“The Conti HSC 3 is doing really good,” said Rick Lorenz, fleet manager for D.W. Cary Hauling. “We’re getting really good wear out of it. The drivers are happy with the traction it’s getting, and there’s no stone drilling. It’s doing great highway and off-road.”
The Conti HSC 3 is an intelligent tire ready for Continental’s digital tire monitoring solutions to identify punctures and creeping air loss, which helps avoid breakdowns. The tires are pre-equipped with sensors, which have an expected lifetime of 6 years or 400,000 miles, minimizing disruptions to the tire program. The tire has a 24/32-of-an-inch tread depth and is available in all sizes:
- 11R22.5 LRH,
- 11R24.5 LRH,
- 315/80R22.5 LRL,
- 12R22.5 LRH, and
- 12R24.5 LRH.
The tire is covered by a six-year, three retread warranty.
