Chris Kaufman is the 2021 King of the Hammers Holley EFI Shootout champion after finishing with a time of 60.5 seconds in his buggy "Show Stopper".
The Shootout features rigs ranging from homebuilt buggies to high-horsepower rock bouncers that race up a vertical rock ledge. What started as an unofficial race for bragging rights at King of the Hammers, the Holley EFI Shootout is now one of the most popular events of the week.
Kaufman won the event with a time of 60.5 seconds, beating second-place finisher Paul Wolff by 1.8 seconds. "Show Stopper" has an estimated 1,400 horsepower and won on 43x14.50-17 Mickey Thompson Baja Pro X tires.
"Congratulations to 2021 Holley EFI Shootout winner Chris Kaufman," said Ken Warner, vice president of marketing for Mickey Thompson. "A veteran Shootout competitor, he was first off the line on Mickey Thompson’s Baja Pro X tires and set a time that none of other 21 competitors could match."
Kaufman won $7,500 for his first-place finish. He finished seventh place in last year’s Shootout.
King of the Hammers wrapped up Saturday, Feb. 6 in Johnson Valley, California.
