Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. has joined Bridgestone Corp. and Continental AG in developing and promoting the "Support Ring" version of run-flat technology for passenger cars and sport-utility vehicles.
Yokohama's participation in the venture will include "adopting the common Support Ring symbol mark," which symbolizes "the global technology standard... that the companies will aim to establish for run-flat systems." The companies will cooperate in developing a system compatible with conventional wheels.
Bridgestone and Continental began sharing their respective run-flat technologies earlier this year.
