Bridgestone/Firestone (BFS) Inc. has joined the ranks of major tiremakers raising prices a second time this year.
BFS plans to increase Bridgestone and Firestone brand commercial medium truck and bus radial tire prices by 4% on July 1. And prices for counterpart tires in the company's Dayton line will jump 3% on the same date.
The price hikes are in response to rising energy and raw material costs, say BFS officials.
Both Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and Michelin North America Inc. announced passenger and light truck tire price increases earlier this month.
