Continental Tire the Americas LLC resumed production of new tires at its Mount Vernon, Ill., plant on April 27, according to a Continental spokesperson.

The company's consumer tire plant in Sumter, S.C., remains closed.

Together, the Mount Vernon and Sumter plants can produce 57,800 consumer and truck tires per day at full capacity, according to MTD research.

Continental's Mount Vernon plant -- which builds passenger, light truck and medium truck tires -- has been continuously producing tread rubber for retreading, the spokesperson told MTD.

Yokohama Tire Corp.’s medium truck tire plant in West Point, Miss., also resumed production on April 27.
