Goodyear Recalls 3,721 Fortera HL Tires

Feb. 20, 2020

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. is recalling certain Fortera HL all-season light truck tires, size P255/65R18. The potential number of units affected is 3,721.

The recall's National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) identification number is 20T002.

NHTSA says a manufacturing issue may cause a belt separation, which “could lead to loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.”

The DOT date codes for the recalled tires are 4419 and 4519, which means they were manufactured by Goodyear the 44th and 45th weeks of 2019 (mid-November).

Goodyear will notify owners, and dealers will replace the tires free of charge. The recall is expected to begin Feb. 24, 2020. Owners may contact Goodyear customer service at 1-800-592-3267.

Owners also may contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at (888) 327-4236 (TTY for the deaf 1-800-424-9153) or go to www.safercar.gov.
