Petlas Rolls Out Glacier W661 for Winter Applications

Jan. 8, 2020

Petlas Tire Corp. has introduced a new winter tire, the Glacier W661, which provides “a controlled and safe feel,” according to Petlas officials.

The Glacier W661 features multi-faceted claws located between its tread blocks and shoulder for enhanced traction and “predictable and precise handling needed while changing lanes.”

Other features include multi-level block sipes, a tread pattern that has been designed to prevent “slush-planing,” a special tread compound the responds to varying temperature levels, and more, say Petlas officials.

“When it comes to winter driving, reliability is the key,” says Oguz Ay, Petlas’ international sales and marketing director. “Drivers need tires that can help them navigate through life.”

The Glacier W661 was designed and developed at Petlas’ production facilities in Turkey.

“A long process of careful engineering and computer modeling was dedicated to the development of this tire,” say Petlas officials, who add that the tire was tested extensively at Petlas’ in-house facilities and test track.

Available now through Oriente Tire USA, the exclusive distributor of Petlas products in the United States, the Glacier W661 is available in three sizes: P215/50R17, P225/50R17 and P225/45R17. Petlas plans to add 14 more sizes to the product’s range.
