Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Discount Tire Co. has opened its 500th outlet, an eight-bay facility in Lansing, Mich.
Discount Tire is on track to open 10 more stores by the end of the year, according to company CEO Bruce Halle.
Fifty more Discount Tire shops are targeted to open in 2003, he says.
Discount Tire is the largest independent tire store chain in North America, according to Modern Tire Dealer statistics.
