Monro Acquires Jeff Pohlman Tire in Ohio, Plus 7 Other Stores

Nov. 13, 2018

Jeff Pohlman Tire & Auto Service Inc., a 28-year-old family owned and operated business with five locations in Ohio, has been acquired by Monro Inc.

According to the Jeff Pohlman Tire website, four of the locations will transition to the Car-X Tire & Auto brand, and one will operate as a Mr. Tire store. “Over the next several months you’ll see changes to our locations, but the same great team you’ve come to depend on is still in place.”

Jeff Pohlman Tire does business in Butler County, Ohio, an area sandwiched between Dayton and Cincinnati. Monro acquired the business on Nov. 4, 2018, and says the stores represent an addition of $5 million in annualized revenue, with a sales mix of 70% service and 30% tires.

On Oct. 14, Monro acquired one tire and repair store from Quality Tire and Auto Inc. The Illinois store operated under the Car-X name.

In September, Monro completed three acquisitions:

  • a single store in South Carolina from Walton’s Automotive LLC. The store has taken on the Treadquarters brand name.
  • one store in Illinois from C&R Auto Service Inc. The business operates under the Car-X brand.
  • four retail stores from Steele-Guiltner Inc. in Arkansas and Tennessee. These stores operate under the Car-X name.

In all, the acquisitions add up to a dozen stores in five states — Ohio, Illinois, South Carolina, Arkansas and Tennessee. And that’s just what Monro has acquired since September.

Plus, the company has signed agreements to acquire 15 more retail tire and automotive repair stores within its existing markets. Those deals are scheduled to close in the company’s third and fourth quarters of its fiscal year, which ends in March 2019.
