Cooper announces record annual sales

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. reached a record $3.5 billion in net sales last year, a 58% increase over 1999's $2.2 billion total.

The Findlay, Ohio-based tiremaker's operating profit for the year 2000 was $310 million, a 30% jump from $239 million during the previous year.

The company's year 2000 net income totaled $133 million, a 1.6% decrease from 1999's record levels.

Cooper's fourth-quarter sales topped off at the $820 million mark, a 17% hike from $701 million tallied for the same period during 1999.
