John Wagner, Past ARA Executive, Has Died

UPDATE:

John Wagner, managing director of the American Retreaders Association (ARA) from 1988 to 1991, died April 7. He was 65.

Wagner joined the ARA in 1987 as a technical and marketing consultant. He also was Modern Tire Dealer’s marketing editor throughout 1987 and 1988. 

He was the son of Martha and Ed Wagner, who led the retread association as managing director for 20 years before handing over the reins to John. 

Wagner lived in Louisville, Ky., and was an executive chef at Gumby's Catering and a member of St. Louis Bertrand Knights of Columbus.

According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, he is survived by his mother Martha; his son, Chad E. Wagner; former wife and mother of his son, Judy Wagner; siblings, Edward (Carol) Wagner, Robert (Sallie) Wagner, Joseph Wagner, Stephanie Cassidy (Michael), Mary Smith (Steve), Stella Nugent (Lew), Richard (Julie) Wagner and Teresa Wagner (Eric); close friend, Phyllis Cornwell and eight nieces and nephews.

His funeral mass will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2018, at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 1395 Girard Dr., followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of mass at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hosparus or to the University of Louisville Hospital.
