Kevin Harvick, Champion-powered No. 2 Chevrolet clinch NASCAR Truck Series

Nov. 9, 2011

Kevin Harvick and the Champion spark plug-powered No. 2 Hunt Brothers Pizza Chevrolet Silverado clinched the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Owners Championship with their win in Friday night’s WinStar World Casino 350K at Texas Motor Speedway.

It was Harvick’s fourth Truck Series victory of 2011 and the eighth for the Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) racing organization. Harvick, who uses Champion plugs in each of his three Truck Series and two Nationwide Series vehicles as well as the Richard Childress Racing-owned No. 29 Budweiser Chevrolet he drives in Sprint Cup competition, edged out Austin Dillon (No. 3 Chevrolet) by 0.294-second in a two-lap sprint to the checkered flag.

“Kevin had the edge coming off the caution with two laps to go,” said Federal-Mogul Motorsports Director Tim Nelson. “There’s simply no one better in that situation, and the No. 2 Silverado had an extra measure of power thanks to Champion spark plugs.”

Harvick, whose four wins came in only nine Truck Series starts, is the official spokesperson for Federal-Mogul’s globally recognized Champion brand of spark plugs, automotive filtration products, wipers and performance chemical additives. One of NASCAR’s most popular figures, Harvick has relied on Champion plugs dating back to his days in go-kart racing.

In addition to his success in the Truck Series, Harvick has four wins and nine top-five finishes in the 2011 Sprint Cup Series. He is currently in third place in the Chase for the Sprint Cup with two races remaining.
