New products help Cooper add Facebook fans

To celebrate its recent extensive product launches, Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. presented Facebook fans with the chance to win a set of new tires -- including installation and balancing.

The "Hot Summer, Cool Tires Sweepstakes" gave away 20 sets of tires in all. The four product lines featured in the contest were launched in 2011: Cooper Discoverer A/T3 and Discoverer S/TMAXX and the Cooper Zeon RS3-S and RS3-A.

According to Cooper, the projected number of entrants exceeded initial projections by more than 150% during the 45-day contest period, which ran from July 1 through Aug. 15.

The sweepstakes helped the company double the size of its Facebook page fan count, which places it in the top five of "most liked brands" in the tire category. "Consumers are engaging at new levels, helping to drive solid Cooper brand growth,” says Julie Smalstig, director of consumer and channel development.
