Pirelli broadens Pessi's reach, names new CEO

June 13, 2011

In order to facilitate the consolidation and the development of Pirelli leadership in the growing markets in South America, Mauro Pessi has been appointed CEO and president of Pirelli & Cie SpA's South America Region.

Pessi, chairman and CEO of Pirelli Tire North America Inc. (PTNA), will retain the chairmanship for the North American business unit "in order to maintain continuity of Pirelli’s business strategy in North America," according to the company. He had been CEO of PTNA since Oct. 1, 2009.

To support the "challenging" growth of Pirelli in the NAFTA region, Matteo Battaini has been named CEO.

Battaini’s 20 years of experience as a manager with Pirelli includes a strong background in demand planning, supply chain and product management "that will help ensure Pirelli’s consistent and unwavering commitment to the region."
