Goodyear will cut Tyler production

Oct. 10, 2003

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. will reduce production at its Tyler, Texas, plant by 11,000 units by Nov. 14.

The factory can manufacture 36,000 passenger tires at full capacity, according to Modern Tire Dealer statistics -- most of them 13- and 14-inch products.

Goodyear decided to make the cut in order "to reduce inventory on those lines," a Goodyear spokesperson told mtdealer.com.

No further cutbacks at Tyler or other Goodyear plants are planned at the moment, she added.
