Kumho plans price increases

Sept. 9, 2003

Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc. will increase tire prices effective November 1, 2003.

The company's passenger, light truck and commercial truck tire prices will increase anywhere from 3% to 5% depending on the tire model.

Rising raw material and shipping costs necessitated the price increases, according to David Hudrlik, vice president and director of sales for Kumho, which last raised prices in November of 2002.

Both Yokohama Tire Corp. and Pirelli Tire North America announced they will raise prices on Oct. 1. Yokohama will hike passenger, high performance and light truck prices up to 5%; Pirelli will raise prices on its passenger and light truck tires up to 4%.

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. raised prices on its passenger and light truck tires between 2% and 4% on Aug. 1. Continental Tire North America Inc. raised prices on its Continental, General and private brand consumer tires by approximately 3% on July 1.
