New TIA training program on track

June 12, 2003

The Tire Industry Association's new Basic Automotive Tire Service (ATS) Training & Certificate Program is on target to launch next month, according to association officials.

Basic ATS will ensure that "passenger and light truck tire service technicians are trained to follow the correct guidelines and procedures," says Tire Industry Association (TIA) President Tom Raben.

The Web-based program will be administered "in-house and without the hassle of extensive paperwork," according to TIA officials.

It includes a database management system that lets company administrators monitor technician activity.

A 12-month "unlimited" access subscription to Basic ATS is included in every package, so each location with a subscription can train techs as many times as necessary.

"Techs can participate in the program and receive immediate documentation of participation or successful completion," says TIA Senior Vice President of Education & Technical Services Kevin Rohlwing.

The Basic ATS self-study format will be available in VHS and DVD with a technician workbook.
