Fox Tire pushes ahead despite tough times

Nov. 11, 2008

Buffalo, N.Y.-based Mr. Fox Tire Co. Inc. has expanded its warehouse in the city by 7,000 square feet for total storage space of 62,000 square feet. The dealership also has added three bays to its service department, which enlarged the area by 35%, says co-owner Eric Fox.

In a time when many tire dealers have put their expansion plans on hold, Fox Tire is in growth mode.

"We're trying to take advantage of the excess inventory in the marketplace," he explains.

"We're looking at (present economic conditions) as a great opportunity to pick up inventory and expand our business."

The dealership, which is just a couple of miles from the United States-Canada border, will make a concerted effort to target tire buyers in southern Ontario. "We see southern Ontario as a big potential market."
