SEMA Show, Day Four: Treadways launches three Sumitomo truck tires

Nov. 7, 2008

Treadways LLC has rolled out three medium truck radials: the ST778, ST709 and ST938. "These tires represent the next generation of Sumitomo medium truck radials," says Richard Purol, vice president of marketing for Treadways.

The ST778 is a long-haul steer tire that contains a wide range of features, including Sumitomo's Flat Contact Technology, which delivers uniform contact pressure from shoulder to shouler for irregular wear resistance.

The ST709 is designed for regional haul applications. It comes with a "beefy" 20/32nd tread depth applied to a wide, flat casing for 10% more rubber volume and longer life in high-scruff applications. "Thick curbing ribs shield the casing from sidewall damage and stone ejectors protect the casing from damage in the base of the groove."

The ST938 long-haul radial features a "super deep" 30/32nd tread depth across a wide, flat radius "to dramatically improve tread life," according to Treadways officials. Other features include rigid interior tread blocks, increased base tread rubber and diamond-cut block edges to fight irregular wear and resist cuts and snags.

All three tires are on display at the 2008 Specialty Equipment Market Association Show in Las Vegas, Nev., which ends today.
