Monitoring legislative threats, focusing on "the green aspect" of retreading and delivering strong financial results will continue to be priorities for the Tire Retread & Repair Information Bureau (TRIB) moving into next year.
"There's a lot of (legislative issues) on the docket next year that could threaten the retread industry," TRIB Managing Director Dave Stevens said during the association's annual membership meeting in Las Vegas, Nev., on Nov. 4.
TRIB will continue to work with the Tire Industry Association to assess and respond to potential legislative actions, he said.
Stevens also told attendees that awareness of retreading's environmental benefits is increasing outside of the tire industry.
"I'm starting to hear from more companies... that want to learn more" about how the use of retreads can help their sustainability efforts.
During the meeting, Stevens provided an update on TRIB's financial position, stating that the association "will have strong positive net income" this year.
