Shipments of medium/heavy duty truck tires set a record in 2018. It was the biggest year for truck tires so far in the 21st century.
Actually, there were two records set, according to Modern Tire Dealer Facts Issue data:
- In all, the replacement and original equipment markets totaled 27.1 million units. (The previous high was in 2017, with 25.1 million.)
- The replacement market set its own record, with 21 million truck tires, up 7.7% from the previous high of 19.5 million — again, in 2017.
