California tire fuel efficiency program to be discussed on Dec. 7

Dec. 3, 2007

On Dec. 7, the California Energy Commission Transportation Committee will hold a workshop to describe implementation of the state's Energy Commission Fuel Efficient Tire Program.

"Staff will describe various program elements, initial steps in implementing the program, opportunities to provide input at the various stages of the program, and provide the public and interested parties an opportunity to raise questions and air any initial concerns or ideas as Energy Commission staff undertakes work on the program," say committee officials.

The Fuel Efficient Tire Program has evolved from the results of a study "that concluded there was a potential for substantial vehicle fuel savings from an increase in the use of properly inflated, low rolling resistance tires."

Individuals are welcome to participate in the workshop via conference call by calling (877) 960-9066 and entering pass code AB 844. (Call leader will be Ray Tuvell.)
