Goodyear holds Commercial Tire Boot Camp

Oct. 23, 2007

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s new Commercial Tire Academy Boot Camp will provide commercial tire salespeople with hands-on instruction about truck tire issues and how they impact customers' tire programs.

The week-long event will be held in Dallas, Texas.

Students will learn how to "read" a truck tire to look for problems like under-inflation and irregular wear and how to analyze scrap tires.

They also will engage in filmed simulations with "customers" to hone their skills at uncovering problem areas.

"A sales representative needs to be a problem solver for the customer," says Roy Suftin, Goodyear's general manager for service.

"The solution might not be a new or different brand of tire. It might be better management of downtime and over-the-road repairs."
